Because of this situation, managers need a way to understand which products are strong and which products are weak. To solve this problem, a business tool called the BCG Matrix was created by the Boston Consulting Group. This tool helps companies analyze their products and decide how to manage them.

The BCG Matrix looks at two important ideas. The first idea is market growth. Market growth means how fast a market is growing. If a market is growing very quickly, companies have more opportunities to sell their products. For example, online food delivery companies like Zomato are growing very fast in India. This means the market growth is high.

The second idea is market share. Market share shows how strong a company is compared to its competitors. If a company sells more products than other companies in the same market, it has a high market share. This means the company is strong in that market.

Using these two ideas, the BCG Matrix divides products into four types. The first type is called a Star. A Star product grows very fast and also has a strong market position. Companies usually invest more money in these products so they can continue to grow. A product like Aashirvaad Atta can be seen as a strong and popular product in the market.

The second type is called a Cash Cow. These products do not grow very fast, but they have a strong market share and give steady profit to the company. Companies usually keep these products in the market and use the profit to support other products. Biscuits like Sunfeast can be an example of a product that gives regular income.

The third type is called a Question Mark. These products are in a fast-growing market, but their market share is low. This means their future is not clear. Companies must carefully decide whether to invest more money to grow the product or stop the product. For example, Sunfeast Yippee noodles compete with many other brands in the noodle market.

The last type is called a Dog. These products have low market growth and also low market share. They usually do not give much profit to the company. Because of this, companies often decide to stop producing these products or remove them from the market.

In simple words, the BCG Matrix helps companies understand their products better. It helps managers decide where to invest money, which products to keep in the market, and which products should be removed. This helps companies use their money and resources in a smarter way.
